TRUMP FOR A DAY...

If I was The Donald for a Day here is what I would do on both the Staffing Front and with respect to Policy Initiatives.  I will limit my picks to 6 for both.

Staffing:

1. I would appoint former New York City Mayor - Rudy Giuliani as Chief of Staff.  Rudy has oodles of street smarts and knows everyone who is anyone.  If he could - as he did - clean up New York - the White House and its environs would be a piece of cake for him;

2. Secretary of State would go to Campaign Mgr KellyAnne Conway.  KellyAnne is smart, smart, smart ...nobodies fool and yet she is calm, collected and can speak with confidence on her boss' behalf.  Plus she was able to tame the beast - aka The Donald - so lesser individuals like Putin and his ilk would be a sinch;  

3. The Attorney General would be Knut Gingrich.  He has a hide as tough as a rhinoceros and would not back down from anyone ... including the President.  Like the olde LBJ - Knut knows where all the bodies are buried; 

4.  Secretary of State for Homeland Security would be Chris Christie - the guy is wily, devious, driven and yet a great communicator;

5.  Dr. Ben Carson would fit in well for Sec. State Health.  Why the guy's not only a neurosurgeon, he is religious to boot and is well placed to re-think Obama Care and put in long needed term limits for abortion; 

6.  For Secretary of Defence, I would install Lt. General (Ret'd) Michael Flynn.  The guy is as tough as nails and woe to anyone other than the President himself who tries to get in his way.  With his extensive background in dealing with Terrorist - they will have met their match and more. 

Policy:

1.   Stop the Illegal Immigrants from coming in.  If that can be done with or without a Wall,  so-be-it; 

2.   Abolish or Retool Obama Care - so that it is cost effective, allows the patient to keep their Doctor, and does not result in job losses;

3.  Quit Wasting Money on Global Climate Change.  Clean up our own air and water and our land from the real pollutants;

4.  Rebuild the Military.  Under Obama it has been allowed to wither;

5.  Restore realistic Term Limits for Abortion.  Maybe Hillary did not have any difficulty with birth canal abortion but I bet you do;

6.  Appoint Justices to the Supreme Court of America who respect the Constitution.  In other words - they are content to do the job as it was intended - to interpret the law made by Congress - and not make the law from their lofty bench. 

Underlying all of the above is the desperate need for the new Government to go immediately to Surplus Budget Status and then move quickly on seriously addressing the Massive Debt - some $20 Trillion Dollars.  The current fiscal situation is a time-bomb that if allowed to explode - ie by continuing to spend more than is taken in...will make the Great Depression look like kids play.

DID YOU SEE THAT? I THINK THE DONALD'S LIPS JUST MOVED !!

Question first.  What were the two major promises The Donald made in his recent Election Campaign?

Times up.

To Scrap Obama Care and to Build The Wall.

So what happens right after he meets with President Barack Obama, in the White House, on Friday?  

He says that he would "like to keep some of the popular provisions" of the Plan.

In other words, he moved his lips, opened his mouth and out poured the words of a politician.

So what is it with elected Candidates?  As soon as they inhale the air of a nation's capital they change from honest campaigners to lying ... well you get the idea.

And we have protests in the streets worrying that the Trump / Republican win will bring about change.  Put away your pitchforks folks.

And that's not all.

I read in this weekend's paper that Trump has established his Transition Team which includes Florida's Attourney General, Pam Bondi.  This apparently is the same Pam Bondi who threatened awhile back to have her State join New York in the ongoing probe of Trump University.

According to article - a mere 4 days after her threat was made, a campaign donation in the sum of $25,000 was made to Bondi from the Trump Family Foundation.

Sound familiar?

The moral of this sad story is the more things change...the more they stay the same.

THE DAY THE KLAN CAME TO TOWN....

KLAN, ... AS IN KLU KLUX.

AND THE TOWN, ACTUALLY THE VILLAGE, WHERE MY DAD AND HIS SISTER JOYCE GREW UP ...FOXBORO.

The other day, I made mention of the infamous klan and it reminded of something my late father told me years ago.  It happened when he was a young child living in Foxboro, population then probably around 800 souls - white souls at that and most of whom had never come into contact with a black person. 

It was the dirty 30s - unemployment was rampant and extremist groups were sprouting up all over the place ...even in dear olde Foxboro. 

It was a time when young men hit the rails travelling from one end of the country to the other in a desperate and mostly vain attempt to find work.

My father vividly recalled the time one of these 'hoboes' tried to break into their family home, during the day, when his father was not there.  My dad - young as he was (12ish) - was able to thwart the potential intruder's best efforts to get in.

Things were so bad economically that dad recalled being so happy on Christmas morning to find an orange in the sparse pickings of his Christmas stocking.  That would be the only orange he would get until next Christmas came along.

So you get the idea - times were tough - as they were all over the world.

So with this bleak background permit me to get back to the klan.

It was during one of these depression days that saw a recruiter for the KKK come into the tiny village. An air of excitement ran through the local citizenry even though they did not have the slightest clue as to what the klan was all about.

Lines formed ...okay - one line formed in a bid to sign up and sign-up they did.  Even Hock and Spit (Foxboro's answer to Mutt & Jeff) were quick to jot-down their respective John Henry's.

But the fervour did not last and even dad could not recall if the new chapter ever actually got round to having a meeting.  It was really pointless anyway  since once the recruiter moved on - there was no one left who even knew how to conduct such a meeting.

It came down to a little excitement in a time of hopelessness and boredom. Why a medicine man selling snake oil would have attracted much more excitement to liven up the day.

I know if any Foxborions who had signed up that day were alive today - they would be so embarrassed since they'd now know what a horrid bunch the klan is and was - but it was a much simpler time then - shall I say - a more innocent time that looking back we can see the humour in their naivete while empathizing with the tough times they endured.

A WATERSHED ELECTION.

Clearly, at least to me, what we witnessed yesterday was a once in a lifetime opportunity to get the Ship of State back on course. 

And when I say Ship of State, I am referring not only to the United States but to the World as a whole.

Russia is out and about causing Mayhem while China is flexing its enormous military and financial strength.

Petty Dictators are doing their worst.

Terrorism is running amuck and once ISIS is defeated - as it will be - it will be simply be replaced by another equally evil group.

We also find ourselves on the verge of another nuclear proliferation made the more sinister by the evil states that are about to join the club.

I could go on and on but the bottomline is - America's enemies no longer fear it, while its allies no longer trust it.

Almost by default - the new Trump Government cannot be any worse than the spinless administration we have seen in office over the course of the last 8 years.

In the area of Business - Trump is on record as saying he will reduce Corporate Taxes from 32% to 15% - that is to say - the same low rate my own country levies on business.  This will send a strong message that America is open for business...that 'profit' is no longer a dirty word.

His pledge to scrap Obama Care -  will also free up business - especially small and medium business - of it's job killing health levies.

For the Republican Party, it presents a golden opportunity for it to reach out to the minorities.  Currently the GOP consists mostly of aging white people and if this continues - even with its renewed leadership under Donald Trump, it is destined to die out.

Simply stated, in order to survive, the Republicans need the Blacks and the Hispanics as much as they need the GOP. 

The Democrats for years have professed to represent them by doling out subsistence living benefits and keeping them poor and unemployed.  What the Dems really want is their votes and by keeping them dependent they are ensured of getting them.

The Ghettos need to be busted up and the youth need to be fully educated.  Jobs must be found for those capable of work.  

It is a mammoth job but one that Trump has indicated he is willing to take on.  I fervently hope he does because to have a healthy and vibrant society it means that the talents and energy of everyone must be tapped into.  

The fact that the Republican Party will benefit from this is simply a welcome side effect.

This is how America can truly come together and hopefully this rare opportunity will not be lost.

NOTE: My Own Daughter brought to my attention that she read from the following that I was endorsing Trump's victory last eve as a victory for the KKK, the Anti Semites, and Women Haters. Of course it was not since I have nothing but disdain for them but if she believes this could possibly be the case I wish to set the record straight...as follows.

As readers know, I am not a Trump fan but I am empathic with the frustrations of many of his supporters who are hardworking and honourable men and women who feel left out and put down by the establishment.  I think the results from last night should give political parties in all Democratic Countries pause for thought on how to truly listen to and respond to the concerns of the everyday person.

I AM LIVID !!!

Longer time readers will know that I am no fan of the Progressive...Hillary Clinton.

But I do not think for a minute that she deserves having FBI Director James Comey reopen their investigation against her at this late date in the US Presidential Campaign.

When the same James Comey announced in early July that the FBI was bringing to a close its investigation I was of mixed feelings. On the one hand there was no question in my mind that...as the number two politician in America... she knew darned well that it was not only wrong to work from separate insecure internet servers...it was also very dangerous for a host of reasons.  I did not believe she should go to prison for her folly but did believe that a hefty fine followed by a prohibition from running for political office would suffice.

On the other-hand, even at that point ...in July, I reluctantly was relieved by the FBI's decision to drop its investigation because even then it was too late in the Election Process to proceed with an indictment.  If an indictment was in the cards ...and as I mentioned it should have been ...the decision to do so should have come before the Presidential Campaigns got underway last year.

What we have here ...as Paul Newman might very well say - is a bureaucrat deciding what should be left to the voter.

Comey's action has naturally resulted in renewed optimism on the part of the Trump Campaign but I believe it will be to no avail. Hillary is headed for an election win come Hell of High Water.  

And that is as it should be..though I do feel sorry for Trump supporters with whom I identify rather than with the Progressive 'Wrong Headed Thinkers' who support Clinton. The former made America great - the latter have resulted in its downward slide.

I digress.

In our own country, it was not that long ago when the RCM Police announced that an investigation had been commenced against a very prominent Liberal Cabinet Minister in the midst of one of our Election Campaigns.

A pall was cast over the campaign which the ruling Liberals lost - no doubt in part to their public announcement.

Even though I am conservative (read Libertarian) I was dismayed then by the actions of our cops.  Simply stated, they had and have no business interfering with the Election Process once underway.

Over my years in politics I have seen the democratic rights of the citizen radically eroded ...by the Courts, by Human Rights Busy Bodies, and by Centralized Overly Controlling Executives.

We need desperately to seize back control from them in order to re-enfranchise the citizen.  At the same time, we now need to protect our rear flank from the undemocratic actions of bureaucrats like the FBI and the RCMP.

And that dear Reader is why I Am Livid.

THERE WILL BE BLOOD IN THE STREETS....

And I am not talking about the carnage going on in Syria but rather ...the American Election, some 2 weeks from now.

And I am not talking about if Donald Trump loses - as lose he will.

Rather I am speaking about the rare chance that Hillary loses...since only then would there be violence on any measurable scale. 

This of course runs counter to the prognostications of the so-called Progressive Elites who warn daily of violence following a Trump loss.  They blame the candidate himself for this since, at this past week's 3rd and final Debate, The Donald refused to say whether he would accept the Election Results. 

But there is one small matter these self same Pundits fail to take into account - it is the Looney Left who have a proclivity toward civil disobedience - read Black Lives Matter, Wall Street Sit-ins, Environmental Activists, Anarchists and so on. 

You can just imagine the uproar if the 'redneck, racists' successfully elected their candidate.  There would be blood in the streets. 

Well of course that won't happen since Trump will not win - and conservatives are non-violent - and just for the record, they are neither rednecks nor racists either. 

The other major prediction floating about - this one even supported by many members of the right, is that Trump's Candidacy has irreparably damaged the Republican Brand.

That too is not true.

The Republican Brand has been on life support for some time now. Look at its gatherings - grey haired white people.  Where are the youth, the blacks and the hispanics?  The GOP is a Party of the past and time has past them by.

That said, with a candidate different from Trump the Republicans might very well have won this time but that has more to do with the disastrous job the Democrats have done over the course of the last 8 years and due to the fact that their Candidate - dear Hillary, is universally disliked and mistrusted. 

But the overall downward trend seems to be evident to most - save for the Republicans themselves -  how else can you explain their intransigence in refusing to broaden their base?


In recent Blogs, I have bemoaned the fact that Conservatives, especially Social Conservatives are in the decline and that this is even evident in the world's last holdout - the USA.  But next month's election, will give the GOP a golden opportunity to reverse that trend by re-branding itself as the party of the libertarian - in other words, those who view themselves as being fiscally and socially conservative.  Full Stop.

And to use that Brand to reach out beyond the Grey Haired White Set to include most notably the 50 million Hispanics who almost by definition are self-motivated hard working and would easily fit in with that philosophy.

In regard to the 30+ million Blacks - their approach should be: the Democrats, for their own petty electoral purposes have kept many of you in poverty; inner city public education facilities have failed; and too many Blacks have been hurt, killed by other Blacks thus greater emphasis needs to be placed on strengthening - not crippling - inner city policing.

In addition, Both Groups have a large vibrant religious base as does the current Republican Party. 

So the bottom-line is ... Why Not Give The GOP A Chance?

Some good may yet come out of their Election - heaven knows there is little to nothing else to hope for... other than a never ending number of 'I told you' blog topics for me.
